Russell Howard joins Richard on London's tube network to assess the effectiveness of gadgets designed to deal with poor air quality and extreme heat.

Gadgets are of course central to surviving his UK break, Richard and Phill Jupitus enjoy a haul of tech that ranges from the world's tiniest caravan to 360 degree cameras.

Richard heads to the supermarket where farmer and foodie Jimmy Doherty joins him to check out gadgets that include a robotic shopping assistant, a fruit ripeness reader and a food ethics scanner.

Having road tested a cavalcade of domestic kitchen gadgets, Ayoade soon concludes that even cutting edge tech cannot make his own food prep a bearable process.

Richard checks out one of the nation's most high tech homes in the company of Claudia Winkleman, but with an asking price several million quid north of his target budget.
