When Maude decides to run for the State Senate, Walter decides to run to the nearest swinging-singles bachelor pad -- it looks like Maude may have struck out for the fourth time in the marital sweepstakes.

Rumpus In The Rumpus Room,

Maude and Walter's separation is on a collision course as each shows up at the Harmons' anniversary party with a 'date.' Broadway musical-comedy star Bernadette Peters guest stars as Kathy Rivers, Walter's date for the party.

Maude's Big Decision,

Maude decides her marriage is over -- Walter has fallen off the wagon and was seen by her in a compromising situation. Then Walter comes home with hopes of patching things up only to find Maude herself in a compromising situation.

A chance meeting with her ex-husband sparks an old flame in Vivian...and Maude adds fuel to the fire by unwittingly encouraging Viv to see Chuck along.

What makes Maude tick? Fearing she's fallen out of love with Walter, Maude seeks counseling from a psychiatrist and, in a unique one-woman performance by series star Beatrice Arthur, pours out her innermost thoughts and memories.

Arthur's Medical Convention,

Walter adds to the many practical jokes at Arthur's medical convention by posing as a doctor, a ruse that he is able to pull off until a handyman requires his emergency help.

Arthur Gets A Partner,

Vivian returns from a spa that stresses meditation, yearning to be more open with Arthur. But she meets a wall of defiance when Arthur, flabbergasted at the news that he may have lost $18,000 to a shyster, refuses to tell her about his financial woes.

Walter's Ethics,

How far should the Findlays go to sell Walter's appliance store? Maude is appalled to find that Walter has supplied a date for a rich investor who's coning to dinner.

Maude is in for a bit of a shock when a package she thinks is a gift from her ex-husband turns out to be all that is left of him...literally, leaving her responsible for disposing of his ashes in a very particular manner.

The Christmas Party,

It's Christmas Eve and time for Walter's annual party for his employees. But he's certain the fun will be spoiled by Maude's houseguest, a women's rights activist given to confrontations.

Maude's priceless crystal bowl gets broken -- and there are three conflicting stories describing the accident.

Maude uses her position as director of Tuckahoe's Bicentennial musical extravaganza to create a tribute to American women -- a theme that hardly thrills Walter, Arthur, and the colonel in charge of the armory where the show is to be staged.

Mrs. Naugatuck's Citizenship,

Mrs. Naugatuck is ready to become an American citizen -- but her test turns from mental to physical when she learns she has a serious illness. The Findlay's frustration over her forgetfulness changes to concern when she is admitted to the hospital.

Maude's Nephew,

Maude's unfailing loyalty to her nephew Steve stretches very thin, and so does Walter's patience, when it becomes evident that his 'free and easy' lifestyle is just a cover-up for his basic lack of responsibility.
