Joan visits different L.A. hotspots to spread the ashes of her beloved friend, Tommy. Meanwhile, Melissa enters uncharted territory for all Rivers women: the kitchen. She's determined to learn how to cook.

Promotional events for Joan and Melissa include a visit from Perez Hilton. Meanwhile, their constant bickering gets to be too much, and they decide to bring in some professional help. But "team-building" exercises only make things worse.

Family Feud.

After their disastrous blowup, Joan returns to New York to appear on Late Night with David Letterman, while Melissa resumes life without Joan. Cooper misses Joan, and deep down inside, so does Melissa. Can mother and daughter forgive and forget?

Joan returns back to L.A. and patches it up with Melissa, who convinces Joan that it's time to return to the dating world. Joan's friends set her up a series of hilarious blind dates. Joan, in turn, encourages Melissa to get engaged to Jason.

Joan gets some alone time with her grandson Cooper while Melissa and Jason take off for a romantic weekend. Cooper invites friends for a sleepover, and things get crazy when Joan takes a last-minute comedy gig, leaving Conrad and Lynne in charge.

It's Joan's 78th birthday and she's got the blues, especially when Jimmy Fallon bumps her for a younger comic. Her loved ones try everything to get her out of her funk, even getting her a tattoo.

When Joan wants more plastic surgery, Melissa protests. An intervention with Joan's friends fails miserably, leaving Melissa playing nursemaid when Joan becomes the recovery patient from hell.
