Instead of spending the staff's money wisely, Bannister buys them a racehorse and enters it into a race the very next day.

Word of a new gold mine prompts Bannister to convince Edna to investigate their life savings.

Marlene's new boyfriend convinces her to join a religious cult. Bannister tries to free Marlene from the cult but gets pulled into the spell of the cult.

As a Mother's Day promotion, Edna's suggestion of providing free childcare in the store turns out to be a big success. Bannister is left with a small problem though. A child who refuses to speak has been left behind.

The Oddest Couple,

When Bannister discovers Viker has been kicked out of his house and is now sleeping on the couch in his office. Bannister offers to let Viker stay with them.

Chain Reaction,

Howard starts to experience bad luck after breaking a chain letter.

The police have Howard wear a wire in an attempt to get a suspected criminal to incriminate himself.

Only God Can Make a Tree,

Howard goes to court to try and save a neighborhood tree.

An old girlfriend from Howard's past returns with a son she claims is her and Howard's.

Christian agrees to marry a woman looking to get her citizenship.
