Lisa becomes enchanted with the diary of a Lydia Plunkett. Found in an old trunk in the barn, the diary from 1898 tells Lydia's life story as a successful businesswoman. Eb and Lisa are glued to every page of the story, but Oliver isn't impressed.

Mr. Haney and Fred Ziffel try to persuade Oliver to invest in a new business venture. 'Looney Luke' Needlinger claim to have invented a machine that can turn hay into fresh milk. Oliver is skeptical and tries to prove the machine is a white lie.
