Cattle drover Gil Favor is saved from a blinding dust storm by a mystical Mexican peon, who is searching for the daughter of a holy princess reputed to have the power of saving a Mexican village from poverty and death.

Incident at Dragoon Crossing,

A substitute trail boss takes over the cattle drive from ailing Gil Favor.

Incident at Poco Tiempo,

Rowdy Yates and cattle drover Jim Quince are unhorsed by a landslide and subsequently find themselves on a stagecoach with two nuns who are being forced by two outlaws to carry loot to an accomplice in order to save a priest from death.

Incident of the New Start,

Gil Favor is forced to relinquish his job as trail boss.

Incident Near Gloomy River,

The drovers are puzzled over the disappearance of drinking water from a stream, which was to be used for the cattle.

Trail boss Gil Favor and his ramrod, Rowdy Yates, attempting desperately to find water for their thirsty herd, come across a ballet being performed in the middle of nowhere by a professional troupe hired by an eccentric old desert rat named Mackay.

After escaping from his tribe's reservation, a Kiowa Indian chief captures two of Gil Favor's men as hostages to insure safe travel to freedom.
