Andy thinks Ellie is out to marry him. After a series of misunderstandings, Andy finally takes Ellie to the church picnic.

Andy gives his son, Opie, a lecture on keeping promises, but must break one of his own in order to persuade a runaway kid to come home.

Andy and Ellie stage a hold-up at the drugstore so that Barney can impress Miss Rosemary with his heroics.

Aunt Bee, accused by Andy of being a gossip, sets out to prove that men are bigger gossips than women.
