Brenda does an internal investigation after an officer and a dealer are killed, but the situation becomes complicated as she discovers more and more about the dead officer's past.

Brenda's mother (guest star FRANCES STERNHAGEN) visits, putting Brenda's plan to move in Fritz on hold. Brenda investigates the death of a jury member in the trial of a mob boss.

Brenda investigates the death of three kids, one of whom is the son of Taylor's friends. The shooting appears gang-related, which could tarnish the image of one of the victims.

Brenda probes the murder of a young woman at a high-priced restaurant, with suspects like a corrupt investor, who was previously suspected of murder, and her ambitious husband.

To Protect and Serve,

Provenza and Flynn discover a dead body in Provenza's garage, but they decide not to report it immediately, infuriating Brenda with their negligence when the body then disappears.

Brenda investigates when a paparazzo seems to have killed himself by jumping from a hotel window. A celebrity was staying at the hotel and may have been the photographer's target.

Head Over Heels,

After finding body parts, Brenda learns that the victim was a porn star with AIDS. Brenda's investigation reveals that the victim's fellow stars may have also been exposed to HIV.

Critical Missing,

After the decomposed bodies of a mother and daughter are found in a harbor, evidence points to ritual suicide. But Brenda's instincts tell her that there's more to these deaths.

Heroic Measures,

A bereaved mother accuses her dead son's doctors of murder. With Taylor and Pope questioning her rationale, Brenda faces the chance that she may not be able to close this case.

The Other Woman,

Brenda testifies in a custody hearing between Pope and his estranged wife, worrying that the proceedings may reveal Brenda's past relationship with him.

After Brenda gets into a minor traffic accident and leaves the scene to hurry to the location of a multiple homicide, Pope decides to take away her driving privileges.

Brenda investigates the death of a teen who was to testify that a man convicted of murder was not actually the culprit. Pope's ex-wife exposes his past relationship with Brenda.
