Three drilling rigs enter the race for Black Gold but are off to a rough start. Mechanical issues slow down the Viking. Peanut has an accident that may keep him out of the oilfield for good. Big Dog Driller Tim has a birthday he'll never forget.

A Boom in West Texas

Longhorn Driller Gerald has problems with both his crew and his well. Wayne and his roughnecks on the brand-new Viking rig are finally making progress. Driller Justin and the Big Dog crew struggle to save what has turned into “The Well from Hell.”

Keep It Drilling

Gerald's Longhorn crew has drill bit problems as they close in on the pay zone. One of the roughnecks on Wayne's Viking crew has a career-threatening injury. On the Big Dog, Driller Justin teaches the crew's rookie on the rig and on the town.

Digging Deep

Big Dog Driller Justin has his first doubts about Derek, the rig's worm. Driller Wayne and the brand-new Viking rig struggle to reach total depth. Gerald rides his Longhorn crew hard during a rig move and one of his roughnecks is injured.

Blood and Guts

Two roughnecks are injured during Viking's rig move. Justin and his Big Dog crew struggle to finally finish their first well, but unreliable worm Derek holds them back. And on Longhorn, Driller Gerald pushes his roughnecks past their breaking point.

Enough is Enough

Big Dog moves to its new home, but old tensions still flare between Derek and Justin. The Viking rig overcomes killer snakes and killer hangovers to reach oil. Josh and his crew take over on the Longhorn and oilman Mike LaMonica isn't happy about it.

Big Dog's Driller Justin is losing patience with Derek, the rig's worm. Josh and the young Longhorn crew drill into poison gas. Oilman Mike LaMonica rushes to the Viking rig when Wayne's crew faces a crisis that could cost them the well.

On Longhorn, Driller Josh's unsafe performance puts his crew and his job in jeopardy. Tensions between Big Dog's Justin and Derek finally come to a head. Wayne's Viking rig makes an unexpected find and Mike may have discovered Black Gold.

Episode 1

Gerald's finally working on Big Dog 28, but he's working as a derrickman. A rookie mistake risks everyone's jobs.

Episode 2

Tool pusher Freddy learns about an upcoming rig inspection. The crews are already on edge, but Freddy fuels the fire when he begins telling everyone how to do their jobs as he tries to get the rig ready.

Episode 3

The roughnecks of Big Dog 28 are on schedule to make their goal of 4 holes in 50 days, something no one thought could be done. But the third hole is proving to be much harder than the first two. The crews dub it “The Hole from Hell.”

Episode 4

On the day crew, Cheston finally gets in the good graces of his hotheaded driller Pee Wee. The two find common ground just long enough for Cheston to get a promotion, but with the new position, come new dangers.

Episode 5

The Well from Hell has the roughnecks nervous. If they don't finish this hole by the end of the week it will mean the unemployment line. The blame for most of the delays has been placed on Pee Wee and Freddy.

Episode 6

Disaster strikes Big Dog 28 when a snapped chain leaves Jerry blind in one eye. Fighting on the rig brings supervisor David Kiser to decide who stays, but when the transmission overheats, Big Dog's hope of finishing their wells could go up in smoke.

Episode 7

It's down to the wire on the Big Dog. The roughnecks have three days to finish the final hole. Ron's less thrilled to have Cheston on the evening shift, but he's determined to get his worm up to speed.

Episode 8

There's an oil boom in west Texas and that means big risk, big reward, and big characters drilling for crude. Follow as two oilmen risk their fortunes—and their lives.
