The Attorney General begins a campaign of harassment against Cleaver as revenge for sleeping with his wife.

Missy's book about her life as a prostitute has caused a sensation, and she's engaged. Meanwhile, Cleaver is faced with gambling debts, his psychopathic client and David Potter.

Scarlet and David's affair is front page news. Cleaver and Missy set out to attend his father's funeral, but end up at the service for a retired travel agent.

Cleaver is in prison, charged with the manslaughter of Lane Hole's sweet, elderly neighbor. He is bailed out by Missy.
