With approximately 130 active volcanoes, Indonesia is arguably the most active place on earth. Volcanologist Tom Pfeiffer leads an expedition to some of Indonesia most remote and rarely visited volcanos.

Volcanic folklore is reflected in Mexican history. One of their ancient legends tells the story of the Aztec warrior Popocatépetl - a giant active volcano - who erupts to wake his sleeping princess Iztaccíhuatl, a neighboring extinct ice capped volcano.

In Indonesia we find regions where the air is so toxic that it's 40 times above human safe levels and sulphuric acid vents from the ground in dense yellowish clouds. Elsewhere, small volcanoes are so active, they are said to erupt every 15 minutes!
