Old family conflicts resurface when Officer Luann Corbin's brother Tyler is released from prison and moves back home, driving a wedge between Luann, who thinks it’s a bad idea and that Tyler will never change, and her mother, who welcomes him.

Gillespie is reunited with his daughter Lana, when she comes to Sparta to settle her inheritance, but she’s been followed by her mother’s ex-boyfriend, who claims that it all belongs to him, and he’s willing to take drastic measures to collect.

An Occupational Hazard,

Rose Murphy is sexually assaulted at work by her boss and, fending off another attack, she kills him. When she confesses the shooting to her husband, he makes it look like a failed robbery. A pair of thieves are arrested, but the clues don’t add up.

Morphine tablets have been disappearing from Newton General Hospital, and Tibbs' investigation into the suspicious deaths of terminally ill patients at that facility leads him to believe his Aunt Ruda's own physician, Dr. Lambert, might be involved.

When The Music Stopped,

Bubba learns the disappointing truth that Eddie Larran, the country singer he idolizes, might have stolen his biggest hit, leaving his former writing partner, Ace McCabe, with none of the wealth derived from the song. Robert Goulet guest stars.

Flowers From A Lady,

Serena Grimes, the victim of a violent armed robbery, becomes obsessed with Bubba Skinner when she misinterprets his kindness for romance. Soon, flowers arrive at the station for Bubba, amusing Gillespie and the staff, until the stalking begins.

Private Sessions,

When the drowned body of Rebecca Lewis is found washed up on a riverbank, her friend and Tibbs’ law school buddy, Mark Meyers is the prime suspect based on an eyewitness account. He’s arrested for murder, but Tibbs doesn’t think that Mark is guilty.

When a judge running for Congress refuses to grant his wife a divorce, she threatens to reveal a secret from his past that would ruin his chances for election. Then, she’s found dead as part of a failed robbery, and the judge claims he has an alibi.

The shooting of Chris Pastore becomes a murder when, no longer able to hold on, he dies. Meanwhile, the question remains, was he the intended target? Gillespie and Tibbs continue their investigation into politician George Deschamps and his cronies.

When an embezzler, Jimmy Ray, returns to Sparta after many years away, it stirs up old resentments as he encounters the families that he stole from years ago, including Virgil Tibbs’ sweet-natured Aunt Etta, who turns to Chief Gillespie for help.

A rich landowner, Horace Sloan, is visited by Candace Sloan, a distant cousin who claims her grandfather was cheated out of a portion of the Sloan family estate. Horace’s readiness to give Candace her legacy, puts him at odds with his son, Lamar.

An impending trial will force Gillespie’s daughter Lana Farren to face her attackers, Carl DeLissa and Jack Smet. Meanwhile, mobster attorney Alvin Epp and his corrupt clients are determined to acquire her property for a large land development.

In this follow-up to 'Even Nice People,' Gillespie’s daughter, Lana Farran, continues to defend her home from her mother’s greedy ex-boyfriend Carl DeLissa and the mob who are willing to go to great lengths to acquire and develop it, even murder.

A Correct Settling,

Harriet DeLong’s son Eugene teams up with a prison pastor, Bishop William Prinn, to get his father, Vic Glendon, off death row, but when Prinn is traveling to Sparta, he finds his life is in danger when his car is run off the highway by a stranger.
