Amelia moves in with her aunt and uncle while undergoing speech therapy. While walking their dog, she witnesses a woman being run over by two men.

Maggie tells Amelia to let no one know what she saw, but a witness reports seeing a girl at the murder site. Jim takes Amelia to the police where she spots the killer.

Jim takes Amelia back home to her parents. But when the officer assigned to protect her turns out to be one of the killers, she runs away from home.

Jim seeks to have the drug squad investigated for corruption, but everybody closes rank against him. Meanwhile, Amelia sees that justice is done in her own way.
