Chicago's Major Crimes Unit, led by no-nonsense Lt. Mike Torello, suspects upstart mobster Ray Luca may be the mastermind behind a string of robberies. Meanwhile, Torello deals with the idealistic meddling of public defender David Abrams.

While a psychotic killer occupies the MCU's attention, Luca uses the situation to his advantage by pulling off some major heists.

When a home invasion leads to murder and sends MCU on the warpath, boss Phil Bartoli orders Ray Luca to deal with the matter personally.

St. Louis Book of Blues,

Luca sends one of his men to St. Louis to corner the gambling business. Torello is quick to follow, but an uncooperative local sheriff stands in his way. Featuring Michael Madsen as Johnny Fosse.

Luca's takeover of the gambling business comes to a halt and Torello hits his other operations even harder, even as the lieutenant struggles with a devastating loss in his private life.

Abrams for the Defense,

A reporter helps Abrams defend a man accused of assaulting his slumlord. Featuring Ving Rhames as Hector Lincoln and Pam Grier as Suzanne Terry.

Pursuit of a Wanted Felon,

Abrams pursues a controversial relationship with Suzanne Terry (Pam Grier) while Torello and his wife have a rocky vacation. Meanwhile, the FBI gets closer to Holman.

Old Friends, Dead Ends,

A federal investigator suspects Torello is dirty, while Torello himself discovers a shocking secret about an old friend. Featuring Christian Slater and Pam Grier.

Justice Hits the Skids,

Angered by the death of his friend, Torello decides to ignore the FBI and go after Holman himself. Luca tries his hand at fencing stolen goods and Suzanne is attacked while investigating drug dealers.

For Love or Money,

As his marriage disintegrates, Torello starts a relationship with the assistant of a jeweler whom Luca's crew murdered. Featuring Gary Sinise as Howie Dressler.

MCU faces an armed robbery that turns into a hostage situation, and an overly ambitious federal prosecutor puts the screws to Holman.

Strange Bedfellows,

Facing indictment, Luca plays off Abrams' good-natured idealism to get some much-needed legal advice.

Fatal Crossroads,

Torello is indicted and gets a nasty surprise when Luca uses him to destroy Holman's testimony. Abrams contends with his guilt and Torello tries to protect Inger from scandal.

Torello on Trial,

Torello's testimony gets heated, and local mob boss Dominic Tranchita breaks the mob council's golden rule when he starts dealing drugs.

The Kingdom of Money,

As the mob moves to take over Las Vegas casinos, Abrams and Torello put together an undercover operation at a strip club frequented by Luca's men.

The Battle of Las Vegas,

A general strike hits Las Vegas casinos, putting pressure on Luca to sway the strike leaders to his side. Featuring Stanley Tucci as Zack Lowman.

Torello falls for Lisa, but her obsessive ex-husband plans to get Lisa and her daughter Tracy (Julia Roberts) back by any means necessary.

Luca applies pressure to the last holdout casino owner. Undercover operative Jack Claymore risks exposure when he meets Torello.

Top of the World,

Luca gives in to his inner demons after the case against him is dropped for lack of evidence, but his careless behavior gives Torello an opening.

After his closest friend turns on him, Luca becomes unhinged and commits his greatest atrocity yet, risking control of Vegas to an opportunistic L.A. mob boss.
