With the restaurants opening their doors for their first customers in only two weeks, the contestants are really beginning to feel the heat.

Our contestants have given up jobs from accounting to marketing to take a tilt at their dream, but some have bitten off more than they can chew.

Half the contestants experienced a first-hand taste of restaurant life at Judge Matt Moran’s restaurant boot camp this week.

With the restaurants opening their doors for their first customers in only two weeks, the contestants are really beginning to feel the heat.

The contestants welcomed their first diners into the restaurants this week as the Bank went touring to assess each contestant on site.

You’re invited to the boy's backyard-inspired instant restaurant of Adelaide pub mates, Tim and Kyle, who are ready to make their mark. But on the sidelines, it’s anything but a friendly game.

The contestants took their new restaurants for a test drive this week, with each team hosting a dinner for their supporters.

After weeks of painstaking preparation, each restaurant launched with a glamorous bang this week.

Round one - the restaurants are open and the fight is on. This week the battle hotted up as the first paying customers arrived, and Nathan and Georgia inched closer to their chance at the prize.

They might have survived the first day, but turmoil reigned in the restaurants this week. Perhaps the contestants should be judged on their refereeing skills as the kitchens turn into war zones.

Surprise restaurant visits were the order of the week, with Dicko, the judges, and Nathan and Georgia making their rounds of the restaurants.

From what the judges had seen so far, the MRR restaurants were doing reasonably well. Sure, they’d seen weak points, and perhaps some mistakes; but nothing prepared them for what they found in Melbourne.

The restaurants had the weight of the world on their shoulders over the last two weeks. Judges were reviewing, nominations were threatening and customers were queuing.

Melbourne and Perth have been nominated and now they’re dealing with why it happened and how to save themselves. The first battle of the series is on, and the gloves are off.

The knife is high and ready to fall on either Rob and Dan in Melbourne or Sandy and Andre in Perth.

Perth and Melbourne teeter on a knife-edge as the shadow of the first elimination looms closer.

Dan and Rob have handed their Melbourne restaurant, Two Words, over to Nathan and Georgia as Australia decided that Sandy and Andre should continue running The Mint Leaf in Perth.

Perth chefs Shane and Bilbo have shocked The Mint Leaf team in Perth with their sudden "us or them" resignation.

The secret is out! The identity of the Secret Reviewer is none other than John Lethlean, leading food critic for The Age newspaper and Gourmet Traveller magazine.

The Secret Reviewer, John Lethlean, continued his tasting espionage this week, visiting Sydney and Perth, but with kinder comments than the fishy ones from the last episode.

Emotions started to steam as the news hit that the Secret Reviewer had nominated three teams for possible elimination: Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

All five teams are in survival mode this week; even Sydney and Adelaide got in on the action.

The tension of the past week has taken a large toll on all the nominated teams, in the most emotional announcement yet.

The remaining four female contestants have been on tour to each restaurant and are scoring each restaurant except their own. With nomination at stake, the ladies are playing a dicey game of truth and strategy.

Bella, Justine, Francesca and Georgia continued their peer reviews this week, getting a real taste for the opposition and casting their final votes.

The friendly rivalry between the couples has taken a bitter turn, with Brisbane bearing the brunt of the animosity from the other states after the girls’ tour of each restaurant.

After the toughest week of campaigning of the series, announcements are met with cheers reminiscent of a European football grand final and sombre silence elsewhere.

Each of the three remaining restaurants received a letter advising them that Judges Matt and Pat would be returning to their restaurants to conduct the final review that will determine which teams will be nominated.

The Pink Salt and Whisk teams have previously survived eliminations and both are now experienced contenders.

The contestants were reeling in the aftermath of the girls’ less than ladylike revelations in the Brisbane hotel room during their review tour.

Each of the Sydney and Melbourne teams battled exhaustion and frustration over the past week of campaigning.

Sydney and Adelaide were at full boil this week, with only days left before the announcement that each couple has waited months to hear.

Both teams have performed consistently throughout the competition, but ultimately the Australian public decided who should rule.
